The sea is in front of you while you eat what came out of it.
The restaurant is on the sand
You do not need to be staying with us to eat here. The beach bar is open to everyone. People walk in off the beach, out of the village, and back again the following year.
It sits directly on the sand. Not near the beach. Not with a sea view across a road. On it.

Four things worth ordering
Most menus in Crete say local. Ours are ours.
That is the most expensive thing on our menu and we would rather explain it than hide it. It is rare, it is local, it is landed here, and no farm anywhere produces it. When it is not available, we will say so.
For prices, ask us
Our menu has one line where a price should be. Next to fresh fish it says ask us.
We cannot print the answer because it changes with the boat. The fishermen come in around eight in the morning and the crates go straight to the kitchen. Ask what came in today.

Order from your sunbed
Every umbrella on the beach has a number and a code on the pole. Scan it, order from where you are lying, and it comes out to you across the sand.
The number is how we find you, so there is no standing at a bar in the sun and no losing your place.
And the ice cream is free
At the end of every meal, ice cream arrives that you did not order.
Nobody expects it. It is not on the bill and it is not on the menu. It is just what happens here.
Where the food comes from
A few kilometres inland we have a farm. Olive trees, avocados, and the sheep that spend most of their time on the mountain.
The olive oil on your bread comes off those trees. The lamb on the grill comes off that mountain. Not from a supplier, not from a warehouse. We know the farmer who makes the cheese. We know the fishermen. Nothing here travelled far to reach you.

Do I have to be staying at the hotel to eat here?
No. The restaurant and the beach bar are open to everyone. People walk in off the beach and out of the village.
What time does the kitchen close?
The kitchen closes at 20:00. The bar stays open for drinks until 23:30. If you want dinner, come before eight.
Is the fish really fresh?
The fishermen come in around eight in the morning and the crates go straight to the kitchen. That is also why fresh fish has no printed price — it changes with the boat. Ask what came in that day.
What is slipper lobster?
The local kolochtypa. It is caught in the water you can see from your table, and no farm anywhere produces it, which is why it is the most expensive thing on the menu. Grilled it is 100 euros per kilo, with pasta and red sauce 120. When we do not have it, we will tell you.
Do you have food for vegetarians?
Yes. Vegetarian and margarita pizza, napolitaine pasta, Greek, Cretan and green salads, and the starters — tzatziki, feta, dakos, garlic bread, feta saganaki, fried potatoes, yogurt with honey. Omelettes with cheese in the morning.
Is there parking?
Yes, free private parking on site.
