Where we hand it over
- Here at the property, whenever you want it. Most people take it for two or three days in the middle of the week rather than the whole stay.
- Chania airport, keys handed to you at arrivals.
- Heraklion airport, the same.
- Rethymno and the towns nearby, delivered to your accommodation.
We deliver to Rethymno. We do not have an office in Rethymno, and that distinction matters if you are standing outside expecting a counter. Parking in and around the old town is difficult in summer, so having the car brought to your door on the day you actually want it saves you the worst hour of the trip.

Why take one at all
You do not need a car for the village. The square, the tavernas and the chapel on the breakwater are a short walk, and the beach is in front of your room.
You need one for everything else. Balos, Elafonisi, the Samaria gorge, Preveli, the villages up in the mountains behind us. None of that is reachable on foot and the buses do not go to most of it.
How it works
- Tell us the dates when you book your room, or once you are here.
- We tell you what is available and what it costs.
- The car is at the door, or at the airport, when you want it.
- You leave it in the same place at the end.
Because we arrange it ourselves rather than sending you to a chain, we can be flexible about timing. A car for two days starting on a Wednesday morning is not a problem.

What does it cost?
It depends on the car and the dates. Tell us when you are coming and how long you want it and we will give you a price. Ask us.
Do I have to collect it from a rental desk?
No. That is rather the point. We bring it to you.
Can I collect it at the airport?
Yes, at Chania or at Heraklion. If you would rather not drive after the flight, we also do transfers and you can take the car later in the week.
How far in advance should I ask?
The earlier the better in July and August. Cars are the first thing to run out on this island in high season.
What do I need to bring?
A driving licence and a card. If your licence was issued outside the EU, check whether you also need an International Driving Permit before you travel, because they cannot be issued here.
Can I take it on unsurfaced roads?
Ask us before you set off. Several of the best beaches in Crete are down rough tracks and the answer depends on the car.
